A Very Good Year.

This year was the best ever for The Bleachers.  We released our second full-length album, 'Conjure,' played the most shows ever to date and found our way onto the cover of Las Vegas Citylife.

We've picked up more fans from around the world; Germany, Japan, the UK, to name a few.  Our music is available on The Bleachers and also in compact disc form straight from our own website.

We wish to thank our families and those who listen to our music for allowing us to continue making records and performing live, which is something we dreamed about years ago and is a reality for us now.

The Bleachers: The Best Band of 2008.

In this week's issue of Las Vegas Citylife, there is an article entitled 'Survival of the Fittest.'  The article's angle is to highlight a number of bands in Las Vegas who are thriving, while the music industry on a national level, is crumbling.

Each band mentioned could only be encapsulated with a mere paragraph (or this article could have been quite long and tedious, obviously), but what a paragraph it was when it came time to write about The Bleachers.

The Bleachers are "The Best Band of 2008 if there were such a category," writer Mike Prevatt proclaims, among other astute observations which can be read in their entirety if you click here.

Thank You For Braving The Tough Conditions...

Additionally, we wish to thank each and every one of you who survived the weather as well, last Wednesday night at the Beauty Bar.  It was an extremely vicious evening of frostiness, the likes of which we have not seen in quite some time.

All of our equipment was near frozen as we began to play and just as we warmed up, it was time to go.  We were able to present ten songs to you, as the curtain hit the cast on 2008, though:

01. When You Lose
02. History
03. Wasteland
04. Untitled Song #1
05. Apparition
06. Build An Army
07. Duende
08. Infatuation
09. Untitled Song #2
10. New Dub

Stay safe for the holidays and we will see you all again next year.

The Bleachers at Beauty Bar, 12/10/08, 10pm.

This Wednesday night, at 10pm, The Bleachers will perform live at Beauty Bar on Fremont St. in downtown Las Vegas.

We are opening for Ours, who are on tour with Plain Jane Automobile.  This is our first time back at Beauty Bar since 'Suspicion' and we are really looking forward to the show.

A few items of note: Ladies, our Wednesday night show at Beauty Bar also happens to coincide with their Ladies drink free until 11pm promotion, so make sure you arrive early and take advantage of getting some good liquor at a good price -- free.

Also, with it being so late in the year, this upcoming Wednesday night show will likely be our last of the year, as well as our last show for the immediate future: our interests lie in bringing everyone a brand-new, full-length album for 2009 and if we are to follow through on our intent, we must begin recording soon.  So, aside from the random show opportunity here or there that cannot be passed up, we probably won't play much until the spring of 2009.  But the payoff will be a new album.

Las Vegas Weekly are thankful for The Bleachers.

In the current week's issue of The Las Vegas Weekly, the feature story was "50 things you'd better be thankful for!"

Upon perusal of the feature, number 36 on the list read, "Comforting Certainties: The R-J will stake out op-ed positions delightfully irrelevant to life in Las Vegas; local band The Bleachers will make terrific music; Oscar (Goodman, Las Vegas mayor) will be Oscar."

It seemed very odd to be grouped with politics, but really, the point is we were mentioned and we'll take it!  It should be noted, there were no other local-based bands mentioned in the list, which made us feel quite exclusive, to say the least.

Thank you, Las Vegas Weekly.  Happy Thanksgiving to you.

"Country House" on Area 108.

This past Sunday night, they got it right: "Country House" debuted on Area 108 during the local music show.

So, it took two-plus years and our second full-length CD before it happened, but we've finally cracked Las Vegas radio.  The irony of it all is that we were on college radio from coast to coast when we released 'Suspicion' yet we couldn't find a station to play us here in our hometown.

Regardless, there's always turnover at radio stations and new people with new outlooks on music come in and that's how change happens.  So we are very, very pleased that Joe at 107.9 took to liking our album enough to play us.  Hopefully, we'll become a weekly staple on the show.  But that can only happen if you help!  Call or e-mail the station and request "Country House" or anything you want to hear from 'Conjure' for that matter and hopefully they'll begin working us into the show more and more.

Conjure Reviewed: Rebel Yell 11/17/08

No, it's not a Billy Idol fanzine reviewing 'Conjure', rather, it is the University of Nevada-Las Vegas newspaper which just gave our new album some praise.  You can read the entire review here.

I will paraphrase some of the best bits, which include "Ice On The Equator" being referred to as a controlled explosion of sound and the latter of the two "Skeleton" songs bearing a melody reminiscent of a haunting tune in an old music box.

Little by little, the word about us is getting out there.

Tonight, 11/23/08 on 107.9 for sure???

We were assured via e-mail a song from 'Conjure' would blast from radios all over Las Vegas on Area 108's local show at 10pm last Sunday night.

That didn't happen.

We really couldn't understand what was going on with the show that night, quite frankly.  It was perplexing to say the least.

But if you check their website here you will see they have listed us by name as part of their "three for all" where they debut three new artists/songs on the show.

So, once again, please listen to the show tonight and BLAST them with thank you's for playing your favorite band and bringing some quality music to the program.

Next Bleachers Performance: 12/10/08 Beauty Bar

Confirmation has arrived!  The next Bleachers performance will be at The Beauty Bar here in Las Vegas, Wednesday, December 10 at 10pm SHARP.  This will likely be the LAST Bleachers show of the year, so come out and support us!

There are several bands coming in from out of town and we will be the opening act.  Our time may be limited to around 30 minutes or so, it is quite important to be there on time if you wish to see our entire set.

In addition to this being quite likely the last show of this year, it is unknown when we will play live next year.  We have been writing quite a few songs (if you've been to the shows since the summer, you've heard a number of them) and once we resolve some studio software issues and recording gear updates, we will most likely be recording all through the first few months of the year.

House of Blues Performance Recap: 11/20/08

We wish to thank everyone who turned out to see us last night for our House of Blues performance.  Some of you showed up a little late and expressed sadness that you didn't get to see much of our performance.  While we apologize for that, we are usually playing at a venue that dictates the start times and is quite strict about holding to those times.

The House of Blues had a severe time limit this past Thursday, as there were just too many bands on the bill.  The amount of songs we could play was quite limited as a result and we just didn't want to push the time constraints. Song list as follows:

01. Wasteland
02. When You Lose
03. History
04. Gone For Good
05. Last Day Of Our Acquaintance
06. Citysong
07. Do You Wanna Dance?

Area 108 This Sunday Night, 11/16/08.

This upcoming Sunday night, 11/16/08, Area 108 will be playing a song from 'Conjure' during the "Local 107.9 Show" which airs from 10pm - 11pm.  This is the national radio debut for our new record and we're very excited to be selected for the show.

Please support us this Sunday night by calling in (702.732.1079) and letting them know you loved The Bleachers song they played (whichever one it might be, they haven't told us) and you want to hear more from our band on their radio station.

If you don't like talking on the phone, you can e-mail the host of Local 107.9, Joe Sacco and tell him you want to hear more of The Bleachers on his show every Sunday night.

So, tune in this Sunday night, November 16 at 10pm to Area 108 (107.9 fm), listen for The Bleachers and then let them know you want more. This is an opportunity for everyone to help make a difference in local music!

Next Bleachers Performance: 11/5/08 Target Las Vegas

It took a little while to pin an exact date down, but it is 100% confirmed: The Bleachers next live performance will take place at 8pm SHARP, Wednesday, November 5 at the Target Store on the corner of Flamingo Rd. and Maryland Pkwy. in Las Vegas.

If you are familiar with the store at all, it has been under heavy remodel virtually the entire year.  Now that they are completely done with their remodel, they are having a grand re-opening event on 11/05/08.  They've asked us to be their special guests and perform for one hour.

We rocked out the Apple store and now we are going to make Target rock.

Look, you can come see us play live at 8pm sharp, then when we are done at 9pm, you can walk twenty feet in any direction and you're shopping at Target, the coolest department store around.  How's that for convenience?

When you walk in to come see us, we'll be at the back area of the store, from what we understand.  In the seasonal area.  Either we'll be surrounded by pumpkins or christmas trees or both for all we know, depending on what season they've got going on November 5th.

How Do You Like Them Apples?

The 10/18/08 Apple Store performance came off in stunning fashion.  Everyone at Apple was extremely warm and gracious, with special thanks to Tara and Andy.  They made us feel very welcome and it assisted us in giving everyone a damn fine show to remember.

We performed a 15-song set, an hour of music, with several songs from Conjure we haven't played recently and a whole bunch of new songs earmarked for recording in the near future.

There should be a song or two in video form which should show up on myspace soon, plus some more pictures like the one included here.

Thanks to everyone who made it out, you helped make it a successful performance.

Apple Store Performance this Saturday 10/18 at 8pm

Just a reminder to everyone out there, our performance at the Apple store in the Caesars Palace Forum Shops is this Saturday, 10/18/08 at 8pm SHARP.

If you haven't stopped by there yet, take a look at the enclosed picture.  They've been promoting us with this wonderful easel display in their store for two weeks now.

Also, if you click here you can view the advertisement for our show that has been online at Apple's official website for almost a month.

We've got right around 15 songs to play for you and it should be a full hour's performance.  This is one show you definitely want to round up everyone and come down to see at Apple.

The Apple Store/Caesars Palace Forum Shops 10/18/08

It's less than two weeks away!  Our performance at The Apple Store in the Caesars Palace Forum Shops is on Saturday, October 18, at 8pm.  From what we've been told, there's already an easel/banner/placard setup of some kind in the main window at The Apple Store promoting our upcoming performance.  That's incredibly cool.

What makes this such a big event for us is simple: Apple is the largest retailer of music, period.  We're playing at one of their stores.  If we get a really strong crowd and positive reception, this can only lead to good things for us.

To entice each and every one of you to come out and support us, we are going to be playing what is going to amount to almost a "double" show.  We have been working from a list of songs at rehearsal that is in the neighborhood of 25 songs.  Now, we are most likely not going to perform 25 songs, but that is how many potential songs we have for the performance.  It will likely be whittled to 20 songs or just a few less, but when you realize a performance of ours usually contains anywhere from 8 to 12 songs, this is very nearly a double show.

House of Blues Performance Recap: 10/02/08

As the crowd began to fill out the venue, Amy Kuney stepped onstage and played a flawless set, worthy of all the attention bestowed upon her.  We look forward to sharing a show with her again.

Michael Soli gave us a nice introduction to the crowd and we stomped through the songs we have been diligently rehearsing for weeks on end.  Here is the set list we performed, for those of you who have inquired:

01. Gargoyle
02. When You Lose
03. History
04. Gone For Good
05. Whistler
06. Citysong
07. Nude As The News
08. Erase Marks
09. Do You Wanna Dance?

01. is from our new album Conjure, 05. is from The Bleachers EP, 04., 07. and 09. are cover songs, while the rest are all serious candidates for our next album we will begin recording in a very short time.

We cannot stress the importance of this performance and your attendance for this special event.

Let Everyone Know.

ThursdayOctober 2nd at 9pm, The Bleachers will be performing in The Courtyard at House of Blues for Acoustic Strip. This is a FREE performance.  We had a wonderful amount of support from our fans the last time we performed there. But we know there are more of you out there. Don't be shy, come on out and see us perform in a largely acoustic setting, playing songs we rarely afford ourselves a chance to play under normal (read: loud) standards. Bring a friend. Bring two friends. Afterwards, come and say hello to us.  We love getting a chance to meet everyone who has discovered us and found our music to their liking.

Conjure Music Video.

Just something interesting for everyone to mull over: how would you like to see a music video for a song from our brand-new album, 'Conjure'?  Better yet, how would you like to vote and be a part of the democratic process selecting which will be the first song to have a video made?

Here is your chance.  Just select a song from the list below in our web poll and click the vote button.  We'll look the other way if you want to vote more than once.

Upcoming Performance:House of Blues 10/2/08

Two weeks from today, we will once again perform in the Courtyard at House of Blues for the Acoustic Strip show hosted by the inimitable Michael Soli. The date is 10/02/08 at 9 p.m.

We've been rehearsing our set a bit differently to accommodate the acoustic (or semi-acoustic) nature of the show.  We will have a few familiar songs and some not so familiar.  It would be our pleasure to see you there.

Make sure to bring a friend and support not only us, but all the artists performing for The Acoustic Strip show.

Once our performance is over, make sure to track us down and say hello, or ask us how to obtain our music.  We've got three different CDs (The Bleachers EP, Suspicion and Conjure) and we'd be happy to tell you about each of them.

Fantastic First Friday.

What an interesting evening for us.

We performed in the final slot for the evening for First Friday here in Las Vegas on the Land Rover Stage.  The bands performing before us -- we saw part of one band's show and most of the performance of the band immediately prior to us -- certainly fulfilled the promise of diversity amongst musical styles presented for the evening.

It should be noted while we felt somewhat awkward with the seemingly mawkish nature of First Friday in general, we approached the performance as a challenge to win over people right in front of us, to those 200 feet away at a barbecue stand.

It appeared to work: we had more people approach us than we've had in a number of performances, many positing we couldn't possibly be a local band from here in Vegas.  Again, the negative connotation associated with the word "local" when referencing original music groups in Las Vegas rears its head.  Someday, we hope to lay to rest the stigma associated with a band being from Las Vegas.  Maybe it began --in modest fashion -- with our performance this past Friday.

Next Bleachers Performance: 9/5/08 First Friday

On the heels of our very successful show at Wasted Space inside The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on September 2nd, comes our inaugural First Friday performance.

We will be performing on the Land Rover Stage (located at Casino Center Blvd. and Colorado St.) promptly at 9pm this Friday, September 5th, as the closing act for the evening.

Even though we've been consistently playing shows since late May in support of our new album Conjure, you are missing out if you aren't in attendance Friday night.  Why, you may ask?  Because we've got three brand new songs worked into our set that have been written recently which are strong candidates to make the final cut for our next full-length album.

Wasted Space Performance Tuesday Sep.2 10pm

We've talked about this show for a month now and it's finally here: Tuesday night, September 2nd at 10pm sharp, The Bleachers will perform live at The Hard Rock Hotel's brand new club, Wasted Space.

From everything we've heard, admission is $10 per person, but ladies get in FREE.  That's a damn fine deal if ever there was one.

Also on the bill for the evening is Lips Like Morphine and The Skooners.  Three bands, a couple hours of music and ladies get in FREE.

Please remember, if you wish to see our entire performance, you must be at the venue at 10pm sharp.  Thank you, we will see you there.

New Show Added At The House Of Blues, 10/2/08.

On the heels of confirming our performance at First Friday, September 5th at 9pm on the Land Rover Stage, we have now confirmed a return engagement to The House of Blues!

Thursday, October 2nd we will be performing once again at The Courtyard inside The House of Blues at Mandalay Bay.  The complete line-up has not been set at this time.  Once that happens, we should be able to determine when we will begin our performance.  We'll update here as soon as we receive confirmation.

Monday, August 18, 2008

New Show Added for First Friday 9/5/08.

We've been working on a First Friday performance for a while now and it's been confirmed: The Bleachers will perform on the Land Rover Stage promptly at 9pm on Friday, September 5. We will be the fourth and final band on the bill.

There's no real address to give for this show, but know that it's on Casino Center Drive. I believe it's where CCD meets Colorado Rd. Again, we will begin promptly at 9pm, so if you are unsure where the stage is, please arrive early.

PC Podcast with Pete Cogle from Sussex, UK

This just came in under the radar: Pete Cogle, host of PC Podcast from Lindfield, a small village in Sussex, UK, has included music from our new album, Conjure, on back-to-back podcasts.

PCP #228 "Happy Everywhere" is the first podcast we're included on, which features "Stolen" as the 7th song of the ten song show.

PCP #229 "Hot Dogs and Hauses" is the second podcast including our music, this time around featuring "Build An Army" as the 9th song of the show.

Check both podcasts out, as the music featured is quite diverse.  If it's not your cup of tea, at least listen in at the end of both of our songs, as Mr. Cogle offers commentary for each one.  The most interesting comments are for "Stolen" and of note is how we leave him nearly speechless, as he begins flubbing his thoughts before he pauses and resets himself.  Well, it was either our music or the PCP, right?

Our warmest thanks to Pete Cogle for sifting through the detritus of the musical landscape, discovering our music and having it catch his ear.

The Bleachers Performing Live at The Hard Rock.

An important update regarding upcoming performances! The Friday, August 29th show at The Icehouse has been switched to Tuesday, September 2nd at Wasted Space inside The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino!

The promoter we are working with is in charge of selected events at both venues and when the opportunity to perform at Wasted Space came up, it could not be passed up.

Wasted Space, if you have not heard, is the new performance club that has opened up inside The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, catering to up and coming bands, both national and local. We are pleased to be among some of the first bands to perform there.

Capacity at the venue is quite small from what we understand. At this time, it is reported that Lips Like Morphine and The Skooners will be performing as well and should bring quite a few people to attend. Please make sure to arrive no later than 10pm, as we believe that is the time we will take the stage. Show will cost $10.

Last Dance of the Mata Hari.

Rehearsals have kicked into high gear.  This past Sunday and Monday saw rapid development on a new song that is fast, quick and to the point.  Tonight we'll have more rehearsals, but we may focus more on the current set than this new song.  Maybe a bit of both.  We will wait and see.

We are looking forward to the upcoming Icehouse show on August 29th with great anticipation.  It is lining up to be quite an important performance.

Instant Gratification.

Yes, it's true: The Bleachers can provide you with instant gratification.  Just look us up on iTunes and you can buy songs from The Bleachers EP, Suspicion and our brand-new album, Conjure.

Next Bleachers Performance Confirmed.

It is now official: The Bleachers will perform live at The Icehouse in Las Vegas on Friday, August 29, 2008.

Our performance will occur on the same evening The Icehouse holds their event entitled Ink.  It is important to note we will be performing upstairs in their very cozy space which comes complete with a great view and a full bar.

Any further details (i.e. other bands, exact performance time) are not finalized yet.  As more confirmations arrive, we will post updates here and on our myspace page.

The Life of Rehearsal.

The heat in Las Vegas continues to push 100-plus degrees day after day, but life and music must go on.

Early this evening, we got very locked in on a short, but energetic rehearsal.  There's something inescapably wonderful when weeks can go by without rehearsing, yet once everyone gets together again, it just picks right up where you last left off.

We began our rehearsals with a beloved song which has been kicking around since the Suspicion days, but has yet to see the light of day on an album.  From there, we launched into a number of songs from Conjure, Suspicion and a new song we've been performing at our most recent shows.

While there are no confirmed performances at this moment, there are several in serious discussion and it's simply a matter of time before those are announced.  Possibly one show in late August, several for September.  We'll keep everyone posted here and on our myspace page as the facts present themselves.

In the meantime, don't keep Conjure all to yourself; let friends know they can purchase a CD directly from us over at our website.  Surely, they will appreciate the recommendation.

Back to Work.

It's been a busy two months for us: getting Conjure replicated on CD for distribution, a series of shows in Las Vegas at a number of venues ranging from traditional to eclectic and this week's double shot of local press in Las Vegas Weekly and Citylife.

All of that aside, we knew we'd be heading into a raging summer of heat as June melted into July.  Once we played our House of Blues show on July 3rd, we had already decided to take a few weeks off.

That time has now passed.

With our fair city logging another in a long series of consecutive days with a high temperature of 100 degrees or higher, we've got to get back to work.

Rehearsals are lined up beginning next week, with possible shows in August and September for the time being.  Anything beyond that timeframe is most likely to be allotted for recording.  Our ultimate goal is to present a new album in 2009, but we'll have to see how everything lines up.  Why wait to make new recordings when you've got the songs written, right?  If there is one thing chief among all others we are passionate about, it is writing music.  Every time we finish an album, it just clears a path for the new music to follow.

Las Vegas Citylife Cover Story.

Well, if the glowing review in Las Vegas Weekly wasn't enough already, we discovered today that we made the cover of Las Vegas Citylife for its 10th annual music issue!

We were interviewed more or less for the approach we take with our music, from buying the right gear to engineering a record and on down the line to a finished physical album.

Not to be lost in the shuffle of the cover story, the issue also contains an album review for Conjure, which writer Mike Prevatt states, "I could write about every song...this album is that good."

If you are local, please pick up a copy!  This is a major source of Las Vegas pride we take in getting the cover.  Without people coming to our shows, sharing our music with friends and local music journalists taking notice, we simply could not exist making music.  Thank you, everyone.

Local album of the year thus far, by far.

This just in from The Las Vegas Weekly, a four-and-a-half star review for Conjure!  Of course we wish for you to read the whole review on your own, but some snippets must be shared immediately: "(Conjure) is the local album of the year thus far, by far," and towards the end of the review, 'Duende' is referred to as "apocalyptic."
Overall, a very strong review for the album!  It's extremely rewarding to see such positive acknowledgment for all the hard work we've done.

Best New Band in Nevada via Boston?

Sure, it may sound confusing, but allow me to clarify the headline of this post: The Bleachers were named "Best New Band in Nevada" by The Boston Phoenix, an alternative weekly paper out of Boston, MA.

It's part of a larger piece called "50 Bands/50 States" where the paper names an "All-time Best Band," All-time Best Solo Artist" and "Best New Band" for each of the 50 states.  So, with only three possible bands/artists to be named for each state, it's certainly an honor to be recognized and appear on that very short, exclusive list.

Edge of Our Seat.

Last night we performed at the House of Blues Courtyard.  It was interesting to be met with such courtesy by everyone from the host of the event to the sound men.  Certainly, I do not wish to infer we are typically met with anything but courtesy, but clearly it felt quite genuine, to say the very least.
It has been quite some time since we've sat down for a performance, but it went quite well, as evidenced by the enclosed photo: You see, I had completely forgotten Joe (and I) would end up literally at the absolute edge of our seats by the end of each song.  When this would happen during acoustic night at Cafe Roma, we knew we were all in for every song.
As far as what's in store in the near future, otherwise known as the Hottest, Most Absurd Summer On Record, we may have a show lined up for August (late in the month) and possibly September.  Beyond that, well, we'd love to begin recording our next album.

Performance tonight at House of Blues.

Tonight's the night: The House of Blues Courtyard in Las Vegas.  At roughly 10p.m. we will take the stage and perform a collection of songs we hope everyone will like.

We desire to perform more shows along these partially-acoustic lines in the near future, but we will just have to see where each day decides to take us.

You should take the time and come out for the performance tonight.  Get a head start on your weekend with our show.  Drink (responsibly) and have a good time, right?  The show is free, after all.

Updated 07/03/08 Performance Info at HOB

Here is the story thus far: We have been rehearsing with the fervor of a band with something to prove.  Given the nature of the House of Blues show and the guidelines that must be followed, we've assembled a set of songs we deeply believe in.

This FREE show is taking place in the House of Blues Courtyard and begins at 9 p.m.  There are three bands/artists performing that night.  To the best of our knowledge, we are the second band and our performance should begin at 10 p.m.

We strongly urge you to attend, as there are a number of songs you will most likely never see us perform with these arrangements ever again, or simply perform again, period.

Warren Oates never had to shill his performances.  Then again, there was only one Warren Oates.

Live video transmission.

Over at the Bleachers youtube channel, there are two new performances posted from our June 13, 2008 show at the Reed Whipple Studio Theater.  As you view these performances, keep in mind we performed for close to an hour on a stage bearing temperatures of 100+ degrees at all times.

Yes, the fruits of labor from an angry band produce under any conditions.

Conjure CD available now.

So, you live far away from Las Vegas, where you could conceivably come see us perform live and purchase a CD from us.

Yet, you are desperate for a copy of Conjure (or Suspicion and The Bleachers EP, for that matter) and it's just not available at your local record shop.

Visit our website and go to our store.  Find the CD you want, add it to your cart and pay securely through Paypal.  It's fast, easy and you'll feel better about yourself when you realize you've dealt directly with a band to obtain their music.

Armed, possibly dangerous.

This past week, we've been working diligently to present you a new look on our myspace page, with a new song (the second of two songs from Conjure entitled 'Skeleton'), new pictures and some live performances that were confiscated from the guilty parties.

Please check out all the new material there -- of course, as time permits.

Full Force

Here's what we've learned: Thursday, July 3, 2008 at approximately 10p.m., the Bleachers will be performing semi-acoustic for an undisclosed amount of time at the House of Blues in their courtyard.  Personally, I've never seen the courtyard, but I hear it's a damn fine place to perform.

There are some interesting stipulations regarding equipment we may bring to the performance with respect to the venue's wishes.  This just challenges us to be resourceful, while allowing us to present everyone with quite a different set list than expected.  There may be some songs we have not played in three years which are perfectly suited for us to perform at this show.

We strongly advise each and every one of you to attend.  All of us are very much looking forward to this performance.  We sincerely hope you will all be there to support us as we support you with our music.  Thank you.

07/03/08 Performance update.

Surely you have visited our myspace page of late (judging by the page views and plays) and you are aware of an upcoming performance by the Bleachers at the House of Blues in Las Vegas.

Unless you are one of the devoted, who attend every show and take the opportunity to chat with us afterwards, you would be unaware of the fact we will be performing semi-acoustic. I say semi -- not defined as the type of vehicle Sylvester Stallone drives in the film Over The Top, but rather defined as "partially" -- because it will be part of the Thursday night acoustic performances that are hosted by the omnipresent Michael Soli.  The best way it can be said is we will utilize some electric music equipment to a certain degree, yet remain largely acoustic.

What this means for us is an opportunity to perform some songs we normally would not have a chance to.  Translation: you must attend this show.  It could be some time before an opportunity to perform our songs in this light presents itself again.  We will have more details about this show as they are made available to us.

Conjure artwork.

For those of you who attended the show this past Friday at Reed Whipple Studio Theater, you may have noticed some artwork on the walls on either side of the stage.

Well, we were very fortunate to commission some new artwork from our friend Edmund Lam and produce a beautiful poster.

At the show, we received quite a few inquiries about it, which will lead us to make some commercial copies of the poster available at future shows.  The posters we displayed at the show were printed on canvas, which you can imagine isn't done in an inexpensive manner.  We want our intrepid followers to be able to purchase a 24" X 36" poster for $5.00, not what it cost us to make those canvas ones.  Whew.

Keep on the lookout at upcoming shows, as we may be able to have them for commercial consumption very soon.

Country House.

We've uploaded 'Build An Army,' 'Zodiac,' 'Skeleton,' and 'Ice On The Equator' for your ears to enjoy on our myspace page thus far.

Here now, we present to you, 'Country House.'

06/13/08 Performance overview.

Last night, we performed at Reed Whipple Studio Theater.  It was a great opportunity for us to play in an intimate setting for everyone.

It was incredibly hot on stage (a trend at recent shows as you can see) as it easily approached 100-102 degrees with the lights burning us like fast food under heat lamps.  It made performing to our very exacting standards extremely challenging.

We did our absolute best under the circumstances and hopefully everyone especially enjoyed the last song of the night,  a solo performance of 'Gargoyle' by Joe.

Thank you all for attending, we will see you soon.

Ice On The Equator.

Once again, we wish to thank everyone who was in attendance at our show at E-String Bar & Grill this past Saturday night.  It was an extremely gratifying evening.

Right now, we'd love to present to you our latest song posted on our myspace page, 'Ice On The Equator.'

Album note: As soon as we finalized the arrangement on this song, we knew it was going to be the first song on Conjure.  Without a doubt, the opening of this song is exactly what we wanted people to hear the moment they listened to the album for the first time.

06/07/08 Performance overview.

What a night for us.  One of the first really hot days we've had (the temperature was peaking at a little over 100 degrees) turned the E-String Bar & Grill venue into a blast furnace.

Before our show, the air conditioning unit on the roof blew itself up, resulting in absolutely no relief in the main stage area.  There was debate from ownership about putting on a show with obscene temperatures in the venue, but in the end, we opted to rock rather than walk.

It was the best decision, in retrospect: We had a phenomenal, enthusiastic crowd supporting us (thank you all so much) and we had some visitors from one of the local newspapers writing things down during the show and taking pictures of us throughout.  What crazy anecdotes they are concocting with their words and pictures remain to be seen.  It's possible they're planning a kidnapping, with the photos going to news outlets showing our last known location, while the scribbled notes were really just details of a potential ransom note.

In case you were wondering...

Right now, in our current setlist, we play three brand new songs.  No, not Conjure-new.  Post-Conjure new songs.

This is what happens when you rehearse in quite a militant fashion: you end up constantly writing new material.

I would not be surprised if we're playing six new songs by the end of the summer at every show.

Upcoming performances.

In addition to the E-String Bar & Grill performance this Saturday, June 7 at 8 p.m., we also have a performance lined up for the following Friday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m. over at Reed Whipple Studio Theater in Las Vegas.  For the Reed Whipple performance, we have the venerable Ethan Slaughter opening for us as well as Mike and Joey from the Hard Goodbye.  Both acts will be performing acoustic, then we will go on and perform in an absurdly loud electric way.

While those of you who elect to sit less than 15 feet from us might suffer temporary hearing problems as a result, all we can say to that is, "Well, it is rock music."

Skeleton.

Here we are, one week from our show at E-String Bar & Grill and all we want is for everyone to hear more songs from our new album, Conjure.  So, just to get you more familiar with all the new songs, we've added one more to our myspace page. Please listen to our latest song from Conjure, entitled 'Skeleton.'

iTunes update.

As you may or may not already know, The Bleachers EP and Suspicion have been available for some time now on iTunes.  Something you would have no knowledge of is we're working on making them available as ringtones through iTunes as well.

We've sent some e-mails back and forth and while we are unsure when our songs from The Bleachers EP and Suspicion will be available as ringtones -- they will be at some point -- rest assured Conjure and all its songs will be available immediately as ringtones on iTunes upon its release there.

06/07/08 Performance.

OK, here is your official notice: the second performance of the summer by The Bleachers to support its new album, Conjure, will be on Saturday, June 7, 8 p.m. at E-String Bar and Grill, in Las Vegas.

We're looking forward to performing at this venue, as it possesses the unique ability to cater to all ages and still serve alcohol to adults.  Why can't every bar/venue owner get the necessary licenses like E-String has?  It's a no-brainer, as it ensures the greatest possible attendance for the performance.  Go figure.

05/24/08 Performance overview.

First, we'd love to thank everyone who attended.  There was a bit of confusion for our fans trying to enter a building that appeared to be closed for the day.  But that was all part of the subterfuge to lend a super secret aspect to the performance last night.

The movie playing behind us was quite a treat -- we'd never done that before.

Everyone was very enthusiastic and our new CD was well-received.  Thank you once again.

Conjure has arrived.

After considerable effort, I am proud to announce the arrival (literally, it was just delivered to us) of Conjure, the new album by The Bleachers.

We've endured several delays which were out of our control, but the wait was worth it.  We now have our second full-length album finished and ready for everyone to listen to.  Ultimately, our wish is for everyone who reads this will buy a copy of Conjure, whether it be through iTunes (available July 2008) or through our website (available now).

Of course, not everyone will purchase a copy.  But everyone can go to our myspace page right now and listen to 'Build An Army,' the first song we are posting from Conjure!
